A weekend in Tangier

At the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, opposite Gibraltar, Tangier is rightfully called as "The Pearl of the North"! With its Mediterranean climate and its Spanish-Moorish architecture, this city is worth the detour, time for a weekend in the sun.

If you choose a home, choose an option with terrace! This will allow you to enjoy the sea views, as well as observe the entire city from an airy balcony. 

The municipal beach is close to the old port of Tangier. The sea is calm and warm along the vast expanse of sand in which to walk.

Separated by walls, the Kasbah is a beautiful area of old palace, which overlooks the city. Some of the charming houses are home to hotels, other good restaurants. 
Both clean and lively, this is the perfect place to choose their housing or eat in the evening!

The Grand Socco is located at the entrance of the Medina. This place is actually go to court beautiful garden with centenary trees. Tourists and locals sit there at any time of day or night, so that is the place most frequented all Tangier.

Like Moroccan craftsmanship? Medina is the place of all (good) business. Fabrics, leather, spices, dishes, oils and other specialties are sold at every corner of streets. 
Medina teeming early morning until late at night. Get inspired through lanes. 

To pause, stop on the Place du Petit Socco time for a mint tea, as did big celebrities like Paul Bowles or Pasolini in their time.

First American historical monument located outside the United States, there is a small palace in the heart of the Kasbah. It was offered in 1821 by Sultan Moulay Suleiman the fifth president of the United States, namely James Monroe. 

Called the "Consulate" until 1923, it is now the "Legation", which features tables on Morocco and old maps. This museum traces the history of relations between the two countries that are America and Morocco.

Located just 10 km from Tangier, natural caves are swallowed up by the sea at high tide. According to Greek mythology, it is here that Hercules would have rested after committing his exploits. 
If you experience you go inside, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Straits of Gibraltar.

Located 14 kilometers west of Tangier, Cap Spartel is a must if you are visiting the area activities. Its flagship is located at the exact spot which is on the Mediterranean and Atlantic, visible color change of the water.

Southeast of Tangier, along the coast, you can enjoy sunbathing on wide deserted beaches, noise choppy waves. Here and there, a beach restaurant (like beach Ocean in photo) allows you to enjoy a meal overlooking the sea. A real treat for all the senses!

At about 40 km from Tangier, the lovely village of Assilah is also worth visiting. Take a taxi to get there one day. The white houses contrast with the azure sky. Although very popular with Europeans, this ancient port town has retained its charm. Lose yourself in its streets!
